Few musicians in the world are as intimately familiar with Beethoven's piano sonatas as Daniel Barenboim, who has been exploring these works since the earliest days of his career - a musical novel in 32 chapters and an artistic cosmos in itself. Barenboim recorded the full cycle of Beethoven sonatas in the Pierre Boulez Saal in 2020 and presents these works in chronological order of their creation - providing an exciting look at the composer's artistic development. The box includes 234 mins Bonus: a 42-minutes interview with Daniel Barenboim on Beethoven and 3 master classes with Daniel Barenboim, working with students of the Barenboim-Said Academy feat. Daniel Barenboim conducted the Boulez Ensemble there in a dazzling performance of Sur Incises, composed by Pierre Boulez between 1996 and 1998.

East Berliner Dieter was working at a very low-level factory job when East and West Germany were unified. He has a very ill child to take care of who requires expensive and special treatments that are not covered by the state medical system. When he loses his job in the inevitable downsizing, he is approached by a sinister rich man to perform various off-the-books services for him, including spying on the rich man's wife. Reluctantly, he accepts the role of "friend" to this untrustworthy fellow. His child is becoming steadily worse, so when the requests of his "friend" include violent and unlawful actions, he does not feel able to refuse him outright.
